My first podcast appearance
A conversation between a bioinformatician and genomic epi
As you can tell from my chosen medium of communication, I enjoy writing. I can take time to reflect, and edit the posts multiple times before sending them out. I often given scientific presentations on webinars or at conferences, and after every presentation’s Q&A session, I find myself mentally answering every question over and over again, except with way better answers than the ones I gave on the spot. So when my colleague Kevin Libuit asked me to come on The Bioinformatics Lab podcast, I wasn’t quite sure how I would like that format. Overall, it was pretty fun, though I still prefer writing 🤓
You can watch it on Youtube (linked below), or listen to it through many different podcasting apps by searching for The Bioinformatics Lab podcast! Here’s the direct link to the SoundCloud page.
We covered a wide variety of topics ranging from how to integration bioinformatics data into epi disease surveillance, how to address challenges in communication across disciplines, the importance of bi-directional learning, and my favorite key topic - building relationships!
I’d love to hear your thoughts, both on the format and the content! Are the any points that resonate with you, places where you disagree with my thoughts, or anything else you’d add to the conversation? Drop them in the Substack chat, find me on LinkedIn, or shoot me an email! Lets keep these conversations going to drive the field of genomic epidemiology forward.
